Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government has revealed that the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) has witnessed a reduction of 1,779 kanals of land in its possession since 2002, while no land has been allotted to needy people since 2019. According to a reply tabled in the Legislative Assembly to an un-starred question by MLA Shamim Firdous, the Housing and Urban Development Department, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that the SDA possessed 4,815 kanals of land in 2002, which has now come down to 3,036 kanals. The government further clarified that no allotment of land to needy people has been made by the SDA from 2019 till date. The reply was provided by the Chief Minister, who is the Minister In-Charge of Housing and Urban Development Department and authenticated by the department’s Special Secretary—(KNO)
